The accelerated nursing program is for students who have completed a bachelor's degree in any field and wish to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) degree. The program takes 12 months to complete and starts once a year (August). Classes meet on the campus of Southeast Technical Institute in the Terrance Sullivan Health Science center, part of the University Center system in Sioux Falls. Students take coursework and participate in lecture, on-campus labs, and clinical rotations in Sioux Falls and surrounding communities.
Before applying to the accelerated nursing program, students must:
- apply to SDSU for general admission to the university;
- complete the pre-requisite courses listed on page two of the application checklist, and verify course equivalences on the transfer equivalency site;
- complete two written essays in NursingCAS;
- meet the technical standards and eligibility requirements.
The application to the Sioux Falls accelerated nursing program is available at NursingCAS on October 15th each year. The application deadline is March 1.
For any questions you have in regards to the program, email or call our Sioux Falls academic advisor. Once all applications are reviewed, eligible applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview. Interviews are typically done in early April.
In order to apply to the accelerated nursing program, you must use NursingCAS, the nursing profession's online application service. Our accelerated applications for the Sioux Falls site will be available on the new NursingCAS 3.0 application. For any applicants who previously completed a NursingCAS application and plan to again, you will need to create a new account on the NursingCAS 3.0. Any previously submitted applications will be deleted from the NursingCAS system, so you will need to re-initiate the application process. However, once an account is created on the new NursingCAS 3.0 application, your ID number and application information will be available to you indefinitely.
