Learn about the benefits of working in health care
Through the College of Nursing’s outreach programs, young students across South Dakota can learn about the benefits of a career in nursing. And, we recently found out our message hit home with the first winner of the “Why I Want to be a Nurse” contest, who is now registered at SDSU with sights set on our nursing program.
We recognize that there is a shortage of nurses in South Dakota—and across the country—and we developed these programs to inform students about careers in nursing and other health-related fields. If you’re wondering what it would be like to work as a nurse, pharmacist, or other health care professional, you can attend one of SDSU’s nursing camps. Through the contest and camps, we engage students of different ages, grades, and locations, and make them aware of the advantages of a career in health care.
