Clinical Nurse Leader (DNP)

The Clinical Nurse Leader or CNL program prepares the nurse for practice across the continuum of care within any healthcare setting. The program was developed to address the critical need to improve the quality of patient care outcomes at the point of care. Recognizing the increasing complexity of healthcare and the benefit of more advanced education for clinical nurse leaders, we are transitioning the master’s level CNL degree to a Doctorate of Nursing Practice in clinical leadership. The advanced preparation positions the DNP-CNL graduate for more advanced, system wide practice designed to better meet the needs of today’s healthcare systems.

The CNL is a clinical leader who focuses on:

  • Care Coordination
  • Outcomes Measurement
  • Transitions of Care
  • Interprofessional Communication & Team Leadership
  • Risk Assessment
  • Implementation of Best Practices Based on Evidence
  • Quality Improvement

Certification

The graduate from our CNL program is eligible to take the CNL Certification exam, which is managed by the Commission on Nurse Certification, an autonomous arm of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.
