NSF I-Corps

Great Plains Region I-Corps Hub

The National Science Foundation Programs (I-Corps) offer education and experience in the commercialization of their research. Faculty, postdocs and other researchers have the opportunity to explore and utilize the marketplace to maximize the outreach of their projects. South Dakota State University is a proud partner of I-Corps, along with eight other institutions in the region.

Expectations

Each project allows three to five members per team. The three required positions include a technical lead, an entrepreneurial lead, and an industry mentor

The technical lead (or Principal Investigator) is a faculty member with experience in the core research area.

The entrepreneurial lead is typically a graduate student committed to the commercialization of the research and/or product.

The industry mentor is independent from the development of the project, but holds valuable knowledge of the industry through business experience.
