The Office of International Affairs assists and supports academic departments as they attempt to navigate through the processes of hosting visiting Professors, Research Scholars, Short-term Scholars and Staff.
We also provide comprehensive services for visiting Professors and Scholars as they have questions pertaining to immigration matters and acclimating to the U.S. culture. Resources on "settling into the Brookings community" can be found on the links to the side. Feel free to contact us at any time as questions and concerns arise.
Faculty who have specific questions about what category would be most beneficial for a potential J1 Visitor should direct their questions to Greg Wymer, Manager of International Students and Scholars. Please send questions to:
- email@example.com or you can call ext. 4482
If an academic department is planning to recruit for a position that may attract international candidates, they should discuss this with the Human Resources and the Shared International Services Center to ensure that the department is meeting the requirements imposed by the U.S. Department of Labor guidelines for foreign labor certification. This will help ensure that the eventual employment process goes smoothly. Specific hiring questions should be directed to Jolane Tomhave, International Employment Manager. Please send questions to:
- firstname.lastname@example.org or you can call ext. 5948
