ConnectState

In response to SDSU’s commitment to student success, faculty, staff, and students have access to ConnectState, a comprehensive student success platform. Delivered through EAB’s Navigate technology, ConnectState coordinates efforts between campus entities and uses technology, predictive analytics, and advising excellence to boost student success and retention.

ConnectState combines the power of predictive analytics, early alert, appointment scheduling, and campus resources in one robust platform. This combined data can be used to create targeted campaigns to connect students with resources that meet their specific needs.

ConnectState is SDSU’s student success platform. Students can use ConnectState to schedule appointments, communicate with faculty and advisors, and access information about their courses, early alerts, and campus resources. Students can access ConnectState from their MyState dashboard.

ConnectState unites technology, predictive analytics, and advising excellence. ConnectState creates targeted campaigns to connect students with resources and boost student retention and success. It also combines features into one location, eliminating Starfish from our list of technology platforms at SDSU beginning Fall 2017.

ConnectState is available to instructional faculty and academic advisors, with a goal to incorporate users from student services offices beginning Spring 2018 and tutoring and academic support offices beginning Fall 2018.

Early Alert
ConnectState houses SDSU’s Early Alert program. Early Alert is an online student success program that allows professors to send various performance updates to students and those dedicated to supporting student success at SDSU. It is a collaborative effort between the faculty, advisors, staff, and students to ensure student success and perseverance. Our goals are to increase communication between professors and students, connect students with resources, and help students succeed in their courses. Professors may communicate with students through the Early Alert system to reward positive behaviors and outcomes or offer support when students experience academic or behavioral problems that may interfere with their success.

Student Support Campaigns
ConnectState employs a proactive approach through which SDSU faculty and staff can identify students who would benefit from timely communication about student success topics. Student support campaigns can focus on timely degree completion, current performance in a course, major exploration, and use of campus resources. Early Alert is one type of campaign, but staff and faculty are encouraged to use the platform to connect with students and encourage their success in many ways.
