All-State String Camp

String Orchestra Summer Camp

 

June 21-25, 2021 (Monday - Friday)

Spend a week on the campus of SDSU making friends, making music, and having fun in our SDSU String Orchestra Summer Camp! The camp will be led by Brookings music teachers Kathy Winghart and Laura Rice, Watertown music teacher Laura Wilsey, and SDSU Professor of Music John Brawand. 

Eligibility

This day camp is for young string students who have completed 4th through 7th grade and have at least one year of string experience.   Due to COVID restrictions, the camp will be limited to 35 participants. 

Location

All classes, rehearsals and the performance will be in the beautiful Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center at SDSU.

Registration

Registration will open early May and will be accessed through this website.

Daily Schedule and Performance

Monday - Thursday, 8:45 a.m. to noon.  Activities include sectionals, master classes, a tour of the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center, games and large group rehearsals.

On Friday, the day starts at 9 a.m.  An 11:00 – 11:30 a.m. concert will bring the camp to a close.  Each participant will be allowed up to four guests to view the concert in person.   

Fees 

$90 includes all music and a camp T-shirt.
