The department routinely has approximately 30 graduate students working towards M.S. or Ph.D. degrees at any give time. Master's degrees usually take two years to complete and Ph.D. from 3 to 5 years.

Is financial aid available? A limited number of research assistantships are available. Once a student is admitted, the award of an assistantship will depend on the availability of funds at the time.

What is the process of application for international students? Follow instructions in the above admissions link. Because of additional time requirements in issuing an I-20, processing visas, etc international students are encouraged to complete the application process early.

What are the areas of research of faculty? We have 13 faculty members of which 10 hold Ph.D. degrees in various specialization areas. One faculty member is the farm manager, another plant manager and there are two Extension specialists. All of the other faculty members have teaching and research programs.

What are the current research projects? There are various on-going research projects. Some are Agricultural Experiment Station projects, others are funded by the Midwest Dairy Foods Research Center (Dairy Manufacturing only) and there are several other externally funded projects.
