Mathematics = Great Careers Solving Important Problems!
Our graduates find great careers in business, industry, research, government, and teaching, working in areas such as finance, social media, health care, precision agriculture, manufacturing, public policy formulation, national security, and many others.
Career Preparation: In order to prepare students for these great careers, the SDSU Math/Stat Department offers the Bachelors in Mathematics with a Minor in Statistics, with concentrations available in computational science, data science, financial engineering, and mathematics education. We also offer the one-year MS in Data Science, and other great graduate programs as well.
Courses: Our majors have a wide range of undergraduate math courses available to them. Once they're seniors, some even take graduate courses. You'll never run out of fascinating new mathematics and statistics to study at SDSU!
Undergraduate Research: Math majors have abundant opportunities to engage in undergraduate research. To learn more about these opportunities, please visit our departmental research page, and the page that describes our NSF-funded Research Experience for Undergraduates program.
Graduate Study: For those math majors who want to continue their studies after completing their BS in Mathematics, our Graduate Program offers the MS in Mathematics, the MS in Statistics, the MS in Data Science, and the PhD in Computational Science and Statistics.
