Math Help Center

The Math Help Center provides free walk-in tutoring for students taking MATH 101, 103, 114, 115, 120, 121, 123, 125 and STAT 281* at SDState.

On-campus tutoring:

In person tutoring will be held in the Architecture, Math & Engineering building, room 292. It has limited seating. Tentative hours for spring 2022 are:

  • Monday and Wednesday, Noon-6 p.m.
  • Tuesday and Thursday, 12:30-6 p.m.
  • Friday, Noon - 4 p.m.

Online hours:

  • Tuesday and Thursday, 5-9 p.m.

*STAT 281:
Help in STAT 281 is available during hours when a statistics-qualified tutor is available. The hours for spring 2022 are:

Jacks LeaP

Jacks Learning Partnerships for Math Success (or Jacks LeaP), is an opportunity for students to gain practice and mentorship exposure for extra credit.

Through Jacks LeaP, students are provided with a peer-led mentor group. Mentors are undergraduate students that have already passed the course. Mentors provide additional activities, study tips, and practice problems for students during Math Mentor Meetings.

Through Jacks LeaP, mentors also provide additional supplemental labs that are open to all students taking the course.

Jacks LeaP is currently offered for MATH 101, Math 103/093, Math 114/094, Math 115, Math 121, Math 123/123L, & Math 125.

Math 103 on Thursdays

Participate in Math 103 Supplemental Labs to get extra practice and help with the topics in Math 103 and earn some extra credit in the process!

  • 1-1:50 p.m. in McFadden Northern Plains Biostress 024

    Participation in a Supplemental Lab will earn you 1% bonus on the following test for a maximum of 6% bonus on each test. (If you earn more than 6%, the extra bonus will be applied to your Final Exam score.)
Math 114 on Thursdays

  • 6-8 p.m. in Architecture, Math & Engineering 210/292

    You can earn up to 5% bonus per test by participating in Supplemental labs on Thursdays! In these labs, you will complete problems similar to those that students typically have questions. Bring your notes, student IDs, & calculators.

    You will work in groups with your session leader using activities created by the Math 115 instructors. These activities are directly related to what you are doing in Math 115 and will help you understand concepts, practice ideas, and prepare for the next topics you’ll learn in Precalculus.
