Outreach
Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies uses outreach to educate the public about issues related to sex, gender and/or sexuality. There are a number of community programs, SDSU clubs and websites that offer more information on specific aspects of this outreach.

The Office of Title IX/Equal Opportunity responds to reports, concerns and inquiries about harassment, discrimination and sexual misconduct, which includes sexual harassment, sexual assault, rape, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking. The Title IX office assists students, employees, program participants and campus visitors, regardless of where the misconduct took place.
This program supports and involves battered persons of all racial, social, religious and economic groups, ages, and lifestyles. We oppose the use of violence as a means of control over others and support equality in relationships and the concept of helping individuals assume power over their own lives. We strive toward becoming an independent, community-based group, which makes major policy and program decisions.

FEM is an active and engaged student organization that has been part of the SDSU campus since 2003. They are the only student organization dedicated to supporting and developing women-centered resources, activities and programs for all members of the University community. Their activities focus on empowering women economically, socially and politically.
Examples of past campus engagement and community-wide programming include: fundraising for the Domestic Abuse Shelter; the Women in Leadership and Learning Luncheon, which fosters women’s leadership in student organizations; self-defense classes with the University Police Department; an annual trip to Women 4 Women Day at the State Capitol in Pierre with the SD Advocacy Network; and an annual Sexual Assault Awareness 5K Color Run.
