What English classes should I take?

Many high school students enroll in English 101: Composition I as their first dual credit course. English 101 is a great place to start because it introduces you to skills in writing, communication, logic, research and citations that prepare you for success in subsequent college courses.

After successful completion of English 101, you may be interested in continuing to build your writing skills by completing English 201: Composition II or English 283: Introduction to Creative Writing. Depending on your major, successful completion of either of these classes may satisfy a general education requirement for your college degree. If you have questions about which course you should take, ask your instructor. We want to ensure that you are taking the classes that best suit your interests and future plans!

If you are interested in pursuing a degree in English or English education, you might also consider enrolling in an introductory literature course like English 210: Introduction to Literature or English 240: Juvenile Literature
