About the Department

The Department of Geography and Geospatial Sciences at South Dakota State University is within the College of Natural Sciences. Our offices are located in Wecota Hall, the department has 9 faculty, more than 20 graduate students, and more than 70 undergraduate majors.

Faculty and student research focuses on geographic information science projects, remote sensing projects, and education. The department offers bachelors degrees in Geography, Geographic Information Science, and Community and Regional Planning with technical courses and modern facilities. We offer a Masters degree in Geography and a Masters degree in Geography with a GISc specialization.
