The College of Arts and Sciences, the largest of SDSU’s colleges by enrollment, serves as the university’s academic hub. It is the home of the arts, humanities, communications and the social and behavioral sciences.
Faculty and staff in Arts and Sciences provide the intellectual fabric and foundation for transforming student passion and creativity into a lifetime of discovery and opportunities for success. Students thrive in atmospheres of engaged teaching and learning, interdisciplinary research, and partnerships in meaningful service.
More than 130 faculty from varied backgrounds are committed to preparing students for what’s next — a rewarding career, professional study or graduate school. Many faculty are nationally recognized within their fields of study. Some are alumni. All teach courses that develop critical thinking skills and increase global awareness, ensuring our students’ competitiveness in today’s society.
Students in Arts and Sciences work directly with faculty in research labs, in collaborative classrooms, in writing and speaking labs, and in performance halls and studios. Today’s programs incorporate options to study abroad, to conduct research with faculty and to participate in service-learning opportunities.
