Fall 2020 Important Dates

July 27-August 28: Submit Attendance Confirmation

Confirm your attendance at SDSU for Fall 2020 or let us know you no longer plan to attend via the Attendance Confirmation form on your MyState Dashboard.

Selecting that you no longer plan to attend by Aug. 28 will remove your courses and notify various departments on campus that you will not be returning, such as Residential Life and Financial Aid.

August 19: Start Date/Instruction Begins

First day of in-class and online instruction. Students should access online courses through D2L.

August 19-28: Drop courses or withdraw with no charge, no "W"

Access MyState to add or drop courses via Registration Self Service. To withdraw (drop all classes and leave SDSU temporarily or permanently), call the Registrar's Office at 605-688-6195 or email Liz.Pierre@sdstate.edu.

If you drop a course or withdraw from all courses during this timeframe, you will not be charged for it on your semester bill. If you already paid for the course and don't add another of equal or greater cost, you will be refunded. If you add courses, they will be added to your semester bill. If you already paid before adding courses, you will be responsible for the remaining charges on the semester bill due date of Sept. 4.

August 28: Last day to add a course for Fall Term. Last day to drop or add and adjust final fees. Last day to drop or withdraw with no "W" grade.

August 28: Reduced Tuition Program forms and Residency Applications due

Access the SDBOR Reduced Tuition Program webpage for more information, requirements, and links to forms.

Residency Applications must be returned to Michelle Kuebler in the SDSU Admissions Office.

August 29-October 30: Drop or withdraw with a "W" grade

Dropped or withdrawn courses will be assigned a W grade. For more information, review our Drop Grade Policy.

September 4: Deadline for Fall semester tuition and fee payment

Payments are due to the Cashier's Office. See more information about how to pay, payment plan options, and refunds on the Cashier's Office Frequently Asked Questions webpage.

September 7: Labor Day (Class Day)

Due to the amended semester schedule for Fall 2020, three standard holiday days will serve as in-class days.

September 11: Last day to submit an undergraduate student graduation application for Fall 2020

Submit your graduation application via your MyState Dashboard.

September 25: Last day to submit a graduate student graduation application for Fall 2020 

Submit your graduation application via your MyState Dashboard.

October 9: First half of Fall Term ends

Also referred to as midterm.

October 12: Native American Day (Class Day)

Due to the amended semester schedule for Fall 2020, three standard holiday days will serve as in-class days.

October 14: Deficiency reports due by midnight

If your instructor assigns you a deficiency grade (DEF) for a course, you will receive an email from the Registrar's Office alerting you to check your midterm grades. You can work with your instructor and advisor to make a plan to address your grade.

October 26-November 13: Tentative: Registration for Spring 2021, Summer 2021, and Fall 2021

Access MyState to add courses via Registration Self Service. Contact your advisor to discuss course selection and so they can lift your advising hold.

October 30: Last day to drop/withdraw

Access MyState to drop courses via Registration Self Service. To withdraw (drop all classes and leave SDSU temporarily or permanently), call the Registrar's Office at 605-688-6195 or email Liz.Pierre@sdstate.edu. To withdraw after this date you will need to complete the Withdrawal Petition via DocuSign.

November 11: Veterans' Day (Class Day)

Due to the amended semester schedule for Fall 2020, three standard holiday days will serve as in-class days.

November 25: Non-Class Day. Residence halls close for Fall Term.

No classes will be held in advance of the Thanksgiving Recess. Residence halls close this day for Fall Term, so students should take everything they will need until the start of Spring Term. Check with your residence hall for check-out procedures.

November 26-29: Thanksgiving Recess

No classes will be held. Students will not return to campus after Thanksgiving Recess.

November 30-December 1: No classes, final exam preparation

Online/remote only.

December 2-8: Finals exams (Online/Remote)

Check your course syllabi, D2L, and Jacks email for information about your final exams.

December 11: Grades due by midnight

Instructors: Submit grades via SNAP. Students: Check your final grades via your MyState Dashboard.
