In this photo, farmer Ed Pishule is driving a late 1930s tractor with the combine attachment harvesting sorghum. Sorghum is considered a super-grain and can be used for many forms and applications like animal feed, ethanol production and even human food! Growing sorghum in a crop rotation with soybeans can help increase soybean yields. It can also keep certain soil diseases from fields as well.

This photo was taken by Leland Sudlow, South Dakota Extension photographer in November 1942.
