Taken by South Dakota Extension photographer Leland Sudlow, this image shows the machines and tanks used inside the Farmers Co-Op Creamery in Volga. On the right-hand side, you can see a bulk tank, which holds the milk at a cold temperature until it is ready to be separated and pasteurized. This image was taken in February 1957. By this time, the company had increased butter production by installing new, more efficient machines.
