Time to put on your party shoes for this week’s throwback Thursday. This photo comes from the Leland Sudlow Collection and was taken in September 1952 at Camp Lakodia. Pictured is a group of adults having a party and dancing. Camp Lakodia was built as a Works Progress Administration Project and was dedicated in June 1940. The camp is located near Madison along Lake Herman. The camp has hosted 4-H camps since 1941 along with a number of other 4-H events. Horace M. Jones who was the state 4-H club leader from 1926 to 1942 was instrumental with the camp and is known as the founder of Camp Lakodia. The camp was transferred to the South Dakota 4-H Foundation in 1967.
