South Dakota State University received a STARS Silver Rating in recognition of its sustainability achievements from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education. STARS, the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System, is a benchmarking tool that measures and encourages sustainability in all aspects of higher education.
Prairie Repertory Theatre’s 50th season celebrates a half-century of outstanding entertainment and training for young theater artists. The 2020 season will only be performed in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center proscenium theater on the campus of South Dakota State University.
The Flint, Michigan, native will network with intercollegiate athletics professionals from across the country, including those who work in marketing, tickets, development, and administration. Fluker is set to graduate in May and wants to continue working in college athletics.
“I’ve always been a big fan [of college athletics],” Fluker said.
Chuck Smith has been named South Dakota State University’s Civil Service Employee of the Month for February. Smith, an accounting assistant for the Facilities and Services Customer Services Center, will be honored at 3 p.m. Feb.

South Dakota State University student Mary Hendricks won the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Region 5 Award for costume design excellence and will travel to Washington, D.C., in April to display her work.
Hendricks, a theater major from Sioux Falls, was honored for her work in State University Theatre’s production of “Hedda Gabler.” She also had designs selected for the regional
South Dakota State University student Danielle Blanchette has been named the recipient of the Mark L. Harvey Legacy Future Professional Scholarship.
Blanchette will receive the award during the SHAPE America National Convention in Salt Lake City, April 21-25.
