Spring Festival of Music to feature five concerts in three days

Attendees of South Dakota State University’s annual Spring Festival of Music can experience five concerts in three days in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center’s Larson Memorial Concert Hall on campus. 

Hosted by the School of Performing Arts, the festival is set for Friday-Sunday, April 19-21, and features performances by all the large ensembles and chamber ensembles within the school. 

Tickets are $10 for adults and are free for SDSU students with ID and all students and children 18 and younger. One ticket admits its holder to all five concerts. 

Tickets are available 30 minutes before each performance at the performing arts center box office or through the SDSU Online Ticket Office. For more information, please call the School of Performing Arts at 605-688-5187. 

The Spring Festival of Music schedule of events includes: 

  • SDSU/Civic Orchestra and Opera Workshop, 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 19, directed by David Reynolds and Emily Toronto. 
  • Choirs (Concert Choir, Statesmen and Choralia Women’s Chorus), 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20, directed by Laura Diddle and Andrew Robinette. 
  • SDSU Bands, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20, directed by Jacob Wallace, Kevin Kessler and Don Linn. 
  • Jazz Ensembles, 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 21, directed by Yiqun Chen. 
  • Chamber Ensembles, 7:30 p.m. Sunday, April 21, featuring small group performances prepared in various studios in the school.
