Biography

Phuong Nguyen, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Construction and Operations Management, began teaching at SDSU in Fall 2023 after his postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Alberta, Canada. His research focuses include applications of artificial intelligence (e.g., machine learning, reinforcement learning and fuzzy logic) and automation in construction; innovative project delivery and procurement methods; and improving construction labor productivity and safety using wearable sensors and computer visions.

Education

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Civil Engineering, specializing in Construction Engineering and Management, from the University of Kansas, 2020.

Master of Science (MSc.) in Construction Management from California State University, East Bay, 2016.

Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Civil Engineering from Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, 2014.
