March 7 honors breakfast with National Cereal Day. Part of the fun of breakfast for many involved finding the prize in the cereal box. With this prize, children could eat and learn at the same time. Representing 48 states and the District of Columbia, this 6.5 inch x 6.5 inch wheel card from Kellog’s brand relays facts and statistics pertinent to the specific state lined up with the red arrow. A cereal box including Pep Bran Flakes, All-Bran, Rice Krispies and Corn Flakes fills each corner. On the back, it says, “Wise eating makes, healthy active bodies.” To get these wheel prizes, two box tops needed to be mailed to Kellogg’s of Battle Creek, Michigan. While the exact date of this piece is not known, it would have been created before 1959, the year Alaska and Hawaii joined the Union. They are not listed on the wheel.
