Name: Ashley Conradt

Hometown: Rose Creek, Minnesota

Site: Brookings, Fifth Semester

What motivated you to choose a career in nursing? Watching the care nurses gave my grandparents inspired me to want to do the same.

Why did you choose SDSU to pursue your nursing degree? South Dakota State University has felt like home since the first time I stepped foot on campus. By going to SDSU I knew I could get a great nursing education while being able to continue my love for music in the band.

What clinical experience have you enjoyed the most and why? I really enjoyed my second semester clinical rotation on the orthopedics unit at Avera McKennan, it was fun to apply all the skills we were learning in the lab to real‐life situations.

What are you involved with? I play clarinet in The Pride of the Dakotas Marching Band and I am the vice president of the EMS club on campus.

Is there a particular field of nursing you are planning to pursue? Cardiology by far! With hopes to become critical care certified.

What is your big dream? It is my biggest goal to continue my education either at DNP or CRNA school.

What advice would you share with a future nursing student? Study hard and go to class prepared but remember to take time for yourself and make memories.
