SDSU to honor seven professional staff members
Seven members of the professional staff at South Dakota State University will be honored for their quality work at the upcoming SDSU Professional Staff Advisory Council annual meeting.
Natvig sisters / Trio committed to serving country through Army ROTC
Following a family history of answering the call to serve, Catie Natvig will be commissioned into the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant Friday, May 3. The South Dakota State University senior was preceded in the ROTC program by her grandfather, Virgil Natvig, and her father, David Natvig. There are two more Natvigs in the wings. Sisters Carlee and Kimber Natvig are slated to commission and earn their bachelor’s degrees in 2025 and 2027, respectively.
SDSU’s Population Health Evaluation Center honored as ‘Partner in Health’
The Population Health Evaluation Center at South Dakota State University has been recognized by the South Dakota Department of Health as its 2023 outstanding Partner in Health.
Avera gift to SDSU to expand health care education, workforce
In an effort to support health sciences and future workforce building, Avera has made a generous gift to the South Dakota State University Foundation of its property at 33rd Street and Minnesota Avenue, expanding SDSU’s presence in Sioux Falls and providing a permanent home for its Sioux Falls-based programs in nursing and pharmacy at the SDSU Metro Center.
Groves to deliver Dean’s Distinguished Lecture on hospital safety communication
Patient safety is one of the most critical aspects in nursing, with many factors playing a role in preventing harm and reducing risks. Those factors are the topic of this year’s South Dakota State University College of Nursing Dean’s Distinguished Lecture. Patricia Groves, an associate professor in the College of Nursing at the University of Iowa, will present her lecture “Hospital Safety Communication: Working Together to Create Patient Safety and Sense of Security” at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 18, in the University Student Union’s Volstorff Ballroom. The event is free and open to the public.

Pravecek earns College of Nursing's Outstanding Researcher Award
Brandi Pravecek, a clinical assistant professor in South Dakota State University's College of Nursing, was named the college's Outstanding Researcher for 2023. It is the first time Pravecek has won the award.
