The Helen K. Grace and Nursing Deans’ Distinguished Lecture and Sigma Theta Tau Phi Chapter Induction Ceremony featuring guest lecturer, Dr. Patricia Groves, Ph.D., RN, will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 7:00 pm in the University Student Union, Volstorff Ballroom. Dr. Groves will present Hospital safety communication: Working together to create patient safety and sense of security. The Sigma Theta Tau Phi Chapter Induction Ceremony will begin immediately following the lecture.
As a safety scholar Patricia Groves, Ph.D., RN has focused on the intersections among safety culture, bedside nursing practice, patient safety engagement and patient safety outcomes, as well as factors such as implicit bias and leadership during COVID-19 that impact those relationships.
She has published and presented on these topics in top tier nursing journals and national and international venues, including at the Patient Powered Safety conference in Bangor, Wales in 2023. Her research has been funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the National Institute on Minority and Health Disparities, and the American Nurses Foundation.
This event is open to the public and nursing continuing professional development contact hours will be available for this event.
South Dakota State University College of Nursing is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. ANCC Accredited Provider #N008480. Attending the full presentation entitles the learner to 1.0 contact hours upon completion of an evaluation at the conclusion of the conference. Presentation evaluations will be available via QR code at the conclusion of the event.
