Understanding Your Bill

Step #1. Access your student billing account
Students can log on to SDePay through the Student Billing Account self-service area on their MyState dashboard. Authorized Payers can access the student's SDePay account with their own credentials.

Step #2. Navigate the SDePay site
Once you've logged on to SDePay as a student or authorized payer, your interface will look the same. Begin by going to the "View and Pay Accounts" tab.

You will be able to see the current balance due, current activity, and statement history. If you'd like a printed copy of your statement, you may print it from this tab. No paper statements are distributed. Keep in mind, your statement is accurate as of the date and time it was generated. Your current activity will show you the up to date status of your account.

Step #3 Understanding your charges
At first glance, your current activity section may look like you have duplicate charges. However, each course is charged separately based on the number of credit hours it's worth. You will see the following 3 basic charges.

Please note: other charges may apply depending on your program.

Example: S-Tuition UG Resident

  • S indicates SDSU course. (If you are taking a course from a different SDBOR university, it will be differentiated by: U-USD, D-DSU, N-NSU, M-SMSMT, B-BHSU.)
  • Tuition indicates tuition charge.
  • UG indicates undergraduate level course. (If you are a graduate student, you will see GR indicating graduate level.)
  • Resident indicates SD resident tuition rate charged (may also see Non-Resident if you are not a SD resident, Adv Prog if you receive the SD rate through the SD Advantage Program, Internet for online courses, etc. View our tuition and fees page for more information.)

You will see multiple line items with this description if you are taking more than one course. The number of line items should match how many courses you're enrolled in. Take the per credit hour rate and multiply by the number of credit hours the course is worth to match it up with each charge.

This fee is charged at $50.85 per credit hour for each course you take on-campus. Shows on your account as "S-General Activity Fee."
