What we do.

In the College of Education and Human Sciences, we focus on enhancing human potential and improving lives and communities through the promotion of mental, physical and financial health.

EHS is home to two schools: the School of Education, Counseling and Human Development and the School of Health and Consumer Sciences. We offer 19 undergraduate programs, 16 minors and more than 20 graduate programs and certificates that prepare our students to become leaders and advocates of well-being that address global issues related to health and education.

Our faculty provide a world-class education, conduct leading research and fulfill our university’s mission of outreach by impacting and positively changing communities in our region. Dedicated to the academic, professional and personal successes of our students, our faculty is second to none.

South Dakota State University leaders and faculty were among the honorees as the South Dakota FFA Honorary State Degrees and Distinguished Service Awards were presented at the 96th annual South Dakota State FFA Convention on April 19 in Brookings.

Brookings middle school principal, SDSU alum given top SD award

Todd Foster’s decades-long career in education has taken him in different directions and led him on a path of service to his students, school and community. This year, the South Dakota State University alum’s dedicated journey is being honored at the state level. Foster, who serves as principal of George S. Mickelson Middle School in Brookings, was recently named the top principal in the state of South Dakota.
