With nationally recognized faculty as experts in their field, our team is dedicated to student success by providing a strong foundation of knowledge, skills and abilities for employment in the health care field, industry and education graduate; as well as, entrance into graduate and professional schools. Our practice of integrating academic programs, which focus on nutrition, health, leadership, financial planning, consumer affairs, recreation, management, merchandising, exercise and human performance, and aviation provides students and faculty with unique opportunities to collaborate and to promote interaction among students in different majors with a common focus on promoting excellence in their respective major.


The School of Health and Consumer Sciences is dedicated to improving quality of life regionally, nationally and globally by fostering life-long learners, conducting innovative research and teaching and delivering effective education and outreach.

Regents Award SDSU Student Organizations

The South Dakota Board of Regents recognized student organizations from South Dakota State University this week for their outstanding academic, community and organizational work.

Internships gave students many experiences, life lessons

While serving as sales interns for Daktronics, three current and former South Dakota State University students have traveled thousands of miles while visiting more than half the United States. Throughout the venture, they have learned more than the inner workings of Daktronics.

SDSU breaks ground on Alan O. Tuntland Hangar

South Dakota State University broke ground Oct. 5 on a new hangar that will support its flourishing aviation program and honor an alumnus who has been the program’s biggest champion.
