Noted University of Houston pharmacy researcher Rajender Aparasu, who began his academic career at South Dakota State University, is returning to Brookings to give the keynote address at the Keo Glidden Smith Fall Pharmacy Convocation.

SDSU seniors to display artworks in thesis exhibition

Two South Dakota State University School of Design seniors will display their Bachelor of Fine Arts thesis exhibition in the Ritz Gallery on campus for the next two weeks. The public exhibit, “Tangibly False,” features the work of Cassidy Hunt and Matthew Scott, including printmaking, drawing, sculpture and other works on canvas.

Dahl to present senior recital

Haley Dahl, a senior majoring in music education, will present her senior recital at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center’s Founders Recital Hall on the South Dakota State University campus.

SDSU Wind Symphony opens season Thursday

The South Dakota State University Wind Symphony opens its 2023-2024 season this week with a performance that celebrates music from both the 1920s and 2020s. The concert, "ROARING: A Celebration of the ’20s," will take place in Larson Memorial Concert Hall at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19.

POET Bioproducts Center officially opens with ribbon-cutting ceremony

After nearly two years of construction, the POET Bioproducts Center has officially opened its doors to the region's leading bioprocessing scientists. The new laboratory, located in the Research Park at South Dakota State University, will bring researchers from SDSU and South Dakota Mines together with industry partners to scale up innovative biotechnologies and diversify South Dakota's economy.

Brennan Mason, a music education major at South Dakota State University, will present his junior recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center’s Founders Recital Hall on the SDSU campus.

Kuehl selected as J.P. Hendrickson Faculty Scholar, Herbert Cheever Jr. Liberal Arts lecturer

Rebecca Kuehl, associate academic director and professor in the South Dakota State University School of Communication and Journalism, has been selected as the J.P. Hendrickson Liberal Arts Faculty Scholar and will deliver the Herbert Cheever Jr. lecture at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17.

Backman featured in next Brookings Chamber Music Society concert

Minneapolis-based organist Samuel Backman will be featured on the Founders Recital Hall organ at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center for the second concert in the Brookings Chamber Music Society series.
