Department of English

The Department of English offers both the B.A. and the M.A. in English. Students can also minor in English or in Professional Writing. The department has approximately 120 English majors and 25 graduate students. The department is small enough for faculty and students to know one another, and our classes are of a size that allows much individual attention. At the same time, the department is large enough to allow us to have specialists in all important areas of English and American literature.

The department sponsors the English Club, a student activity group for students in English, and Oakwood, an annual literary magazine written and edited by students.

The English Department also sponsors many activities on campus, such as the Great Plains Writers' Conference and the Consider the Century Conference.

The proceedings for the 24th Conference on Early British Literature, which was hosted by the English Department, is available at www.npcebl.org/pdf/NPCEBL2016.pdf.

Graduate teaching assistantships are available for the next academic year. Learn valuable teaching skills through our GTA training program and subsequent teaching of English 101 while earning your Master's Degree in English.
