Research and scholarship (Visit Nepal Lab site)

Our lab uses cutting-edge approaches in plant systematics, comparative genomics and population genetics to study evolutionary history, biodiversity and genetics of plant species. Some of the  recent research projects we are currently working on are as follows.
  • Taxonomy and Population Genetics of Endangered Populations of Native Red Mulberry at its Northwestern Boundary  (Researcher: Undergraduate students Abby Bulock, Douglas Wichern, Spencer Schreier and Pukar Duwadi)
  • Identification and Characterization of Legume-specific Mitogen Activated Protein Kinase (MAPK) Genes in Soybean (Glycine max) (Researcher Graduate student: Achal Neupane; undergraduate students: Kenton MacArthur, and Kevin Murray)
  • Evolutionary Divergence of Mitogen Activated Protein Kinase Kinase (MAP2K) Gene Family in Legumes (Researcher: Undergraduate student Kenton MacArthur, Amber Aker, Wyatt Chicoine)
  • Diversity and Evolution of NBS-LRR-Genes in wheat (Researcher: Graduate student, Ethan Andersen)
  • Diversity and Evolutionary History of NBS-LRR-Genes in Legumes (Researcher: Graduate student, Benjamin Benson; undergraduate student: Lukas Davison )
  • Introduction History and Population Genetics of Falcaria vulgaris (Sickleweed) in the United States (Researcher: Graduate student Sarbottam Piya)
