Wokini Scholarship Requirements
Students who are tribally enrolled or have descendancy through a federally recognized tribe in the United States, including Alaskan Natives, are eligible for the Wokini Scholarships for full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate, transfer and graduate students attending South Dakota State University. Eligible students must submit a completed scholarship application and provide documentation of tribal enrollment/descendancy. Selected Wokini scholars will be awarded a minimum $5,000 annually which is renewable.
Freshman/First-Time Students Wokini Scholarship Requirements:
- Student must be admitted to SDState as a first-time student.
- Student must submit an online Scholarship Application. The student makes sure to mark American Indian on the application.
- Student must provide documentation of being enrolled or of having descendancy through federally recognized tribes in the U.S., including Alaskan native.
- Student is encouraged to have their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) completed and reported to SDState.
Wokini Scholarship Application for First Time Freshman
Transfer Students Wokini Scholarship Requirements:
- Completed at least 12 credit hours and 2.0 GPA.
- Student must submit an online Scholarship Application. Student makes sure to mark American Indian on the application.
- Student must provide documentation of being enrolled or of having descendancy through federally recognized tribes in the U.S., including Alaskan native.
- Student is encouraged to have their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) completed and reported to SDState.
Wokini Scholarship Application for Transfer Students
Graduate Students Wokini Scholarship Requirements:
- Student must be admitted to SDState as a first-time graduate student.
- Student must submit a Graduate Scholarship Application to the Graduate School scholarship.
- Student must provide documentation of being enrolled or of having descendancy through federally recognized tribes in the U.S., including Alaskan native.
- Student is encouraged to have their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) completed and reported to SDState.
