Wokini Scholarship Requirements

Students who are tribally enrolled or have descendancy through a federally recognized tribe in the United States, including Alaskan Natives, are eligible for the Wokini Scholarships for full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate, transfer and graduate students attending South Dakota State University. Eligible students must submit a completed scholarship application and provide documentation of tribal enrollment/descendancy. Selected Wokini scholars will be awarded a minimum $5,000 annually which is renewable.

Freshman/First-Time Students Wokini Scholarship Requirements:

Student must be admitted to SDState as a first-time student.
Student must submit an online Scholarship Application. The student makes sure to mark American Indian on the application.
Student must provide documentation of being enrolled or of having descendancy through federally recognized tribes in the U.S., including Alaskan native.
Student is encouraged to have their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) completed and reported to SDState.

Wokini Scholarship Application for First Time Freshman

Transfer Students Wokini Scholarship Requirements:

Completed at least 12 credit hours and 2.0 GPA.
Student must submit an online Scholarship Application. Student makes sure to mark American Indian on the application.
Student must provide documentation of being enrolled or of having descendancy through federally recognized tribes in the U.S., including Alaskan native.
Student is encouraged to have their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) completed and reported to SDState.

Wokini Scholarship Application for Transfer Students

Graduate Students Wokini Scholarship Requirements:

Student must be admitted to SDState as a first-time graduate student.
Student must submit a Graduate Scholarship Application to the Graduate School scholarship.
Student must provide documentation of being enrolled or of having descendancy through federally recognized tribes in the U.S., including Alaskan native.
Student is encouraged to have their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) completed and reported to SDState.
