What is Summer Bridge?
The Summer Bridge program will be a one-week experience immediately prior to the start of the fall semester.
The program will support SDSU’s existing early orientation programs by providing a centralized academic skill development, campus orientation, and social engagement experience that brings together new students who participate in early orientation programs across campus.
Offices that currently host early orientation programs include the American Indian Student Center and the Office of International Affairs (beginning Summer 2022).
Events will include a campus resources tour, academic planning workshops, engagement activities on campus or in the Brookings community, one-on-one appointments with academic advisors, and a meal that brings together Summer Bridge students and staff from various campus support offices.
Activities will extend to a Fall Bridge program that continues to connect Summer Bridge students and staff for skill development and engagement activities throughout the fall semester. Some of these events will be planned centrally, while others may be unique to International Affairs or the American Indian Student Center.
