How to Register
- You will register for New Student Orientation through your SDSU MyState account. This is the same portal you would have used to complete the housing application.
Accessing MyState for the first time
If you are a first-time user, follow the directions under the Technology Talk tab (located under the banner) of the MyState student portal and follow the steps under "Get SDSU Connected" to begin the process to pick up your account. Once you reset your password and set up your DUO account, then you will be able to sign into MyState and your Jacks email using the password you just created.
If you have any issues accessing MyState, please reach out to the Support Desk at 605-688-6776.
After logging into MyState
- If you've logged in or activated these accounts before, you can go to the upper right-hand corner of MyState and click on the "Sign-In" button to log in to your student portal. You will use your Jacks email and DUO to login to MyState.
- Click on the Dashboard tab and find the Forms section. In this section, find the New Student Orientation Registration Form, which is typically a featured form at the top of the Forms list.
- Verify your major, select your New Student Orientation date and complete the rest of the steps to finalize registration.
Once you've registered, you will receive a confirmation email. Follow our social media posts to get yourself prepared to participate in your New Student Orientation session. Your final confirmation details will be sent via Jacks email a day or two prior to your session.
When can I sign up for New Student Orientation?
Registration will be available by early March. Students will sign in to their MyState account and access the New Student Orientation registration form to select an available date.
Will I get the classes I need if I come to a later session?
Yes. We engage the help of professional and academic advisors who are familiar with graduation requirements and major coursework to help our students build a schedule that includes the classes they need.
How can I make changes to my registration?
If any of your information has changed since you registered for New Student Orientation, including major, contact information or accommodation needs, please notify us prior to your session if possible. You can reach orientation staff at 605-688-6283 or via email.
What should I do if I can't make it to any of the scheduled New Student Orientation dates?
Please do your best to make arrangements to attend New Student Orientation. Completion of an orientation program is required prior to course registration.
Can I attend orientation with a friend?
Absolutely. We recommend that you sign up for your session at the same time as they do fill up on a first-come, first-served basis.
