Survivors and Dependents Educational Assistance (DEA)
Chapter 35 offers education opportunities to eligible dependents of Veterans who are permanently and totally disabled due to a service-related condition or of Veterans who died while on active duty or as a result of a service-related condition.
Survivors and Dependents Educational Assistance Benefit Pay Rate
- You will receive a monthly living stipend which can be used at your own discretion. The pay rates are listed in the table below.
- This amount will change and be pro-rated depending upon school holidays i.e. Spring break, Christmas break etc. The VA only pays for days that SDSU is in session.
- Payment will come on the first of the month for previous month (Payment in April is really for March).
**Pay rate will increase on October 1 every year.
