Most of the programs in Teaching, Learning and Leadership require some sort of internship or student teaching experience. The undergraduate teacher education programs in both Early Childhood Education and Secondary Education have multiple field experiences including a semester dominated by student teaching. Graduate programs include some form of internship. These internships are part of the expected coursework in these programs
Every year there are jobs available in South Dakota at all levels and in all areas. For those seeking jobs in K-12 schools, see the Teacher Placement Service, a resource maintained by the Associated School Boards. At the middle school and secondary level, areas in which there are presently shortages include mathematics, science, foreign languages, bilingual education, art, language arts, music and special education.
