4-H Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM)


4-H strives to 'make the best better' by helping youth reach their fullest potential through positive youth development within community clubs, after-school programs, classrooms and camps world wide. Learning opportunities within 4-H provide youth with: supervised independence, a sense of belonging, the spirit of generosity toward others and a wide variety of opportunities to master life challenges. 

4-H utilizes a 'learn by doing' approach that's ideal for teaching core STEM areas. 4-H STEM utilizes experiential and inquiry-based learning in order to increase youth engagement within science, technology, engineering and math. 4-H STEM concepts are based upon national science education standards and target the development of STEM knowledge, skills and abilities.

The goals of 4-H STEM are:

  • Increase awareness of science, technology, engineering and mathematics
  • Increase understanding and appreciation for science, technology, engineering and mathematics
  • Develop knowledge, skills, and abilities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics
