As the South Dakota Art Museum’s Director, Lynn Verschoor is at the hub of all creative goings-on and oversees the Museum’s operations, staff, and programs. Because of her passion for education, Lynn goes above and beyond by conducting tours, teaching hands-on art workshops, and developing workshops in Visual Thinking Strategies for children and adults. Her background as artist, educator, gallery director, and exhibition curator provides a strong basis for museum leadership.
Lynn is no stranger to art, nor education. She studied at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and earned her Bachelors of Fine Arts and teaching from South Dakota State University. She received her Master of Science degree in information media and instructional design from St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota, followed by an MFA from the University of South Dakota. Lynn is a working artist who has exhibited her art for thirty years.
Lynn is originally from Mitchell, South Dakota. She worked in both Colorado and Montana before South Dakota and the Art Museum summoned her home. When not working to keep the museum machine moving, Lynn enjoys making art, gardening, and reading. Her favorite mediums are surface design on fabric, felting, and ceramics.
