Written on the reverse of this cabinet card photograph is "Someones homestead in Lake Co." The two women sitting in chairs in front of their tar paper shack which is sodded part way up from the ground look ready for a good chat. They are posing in chairs taken from inside, one a rocking chair. The homestead house has glass paned windows and a solid fitting door. A stovepipe sticks up out of the roof. Another house appears in the background and looks to be arranged much the same way as the house in the foreground. (1991:169:0001)
