Summer Collections Internship

The Collections Internship offers students the opportunity to learn about artifact handling, documentation, and care basic collections care. A museum’s mission and its collection is the base for all other functions and activities occurring in the institution.  

 

Schedule: The internship is for the summer term. The schedule is weekdays, 8 am – 5 pm.  

 

Pay scale: $10.00 per hour for 40 hours a week for 10-week Academic Summer Session. Begin date is flexible.  

 

Internship Description 

Assist with inventory and collections documentation, record location, condition, photograph artifacts, and re-house artifacts when necessary. Assignments require the ability to handle objects with both hands, read small numbers, climb ladders and stairs, and an ability to lift 35 pounds. Specific skills and tasks will be taught by the Collections Coordinator.

  • Enter data into collections catalog  

Expectations 

Be punctual and meet deadlines. Clean, neat, comfortable casual attire. 

Note: Some work will be dirty. Must have a positive attitude and be open to new things.
