Museum Collections

Scope of the Collection

Our collection contains 3D objects like tractors and implements, household furnishings, architectural features, clothing and other textiles, small tools relating to animal husbandry and crop production, toys and books.

Two-dimensional archival collections include maps and atlases, prints from Harper’s Weekly and Leslies’ Illustrated, agricultural magazines and encyclopedias, the Beckman Archive, tractor and machinery manuals and the Photograph and Postcard Archive.

The museum’s collection also includes a collection of material related to the South Dakota State University.

Beckman Archive

A collection of original sales brochures, operators manuals, parts lists and sales premiums that range in date from the 1880s through the early 1960s.
Rammed Earth Building
Rammed Earth

This collection contains South Dakota State College, government publications and information pertaining to rammed earth buildings.

Large Artifact Collection

From rare artifacts such as the Dakota Tractor to large clover hullers, theses large pieces help tell the story of South Dakota agriculture.
