Kristi Cammack, Director of SDSU West River Research & Extension

Welcome to SDSU West River Research & Extension (WRRE)!  The SDSU WRRE serves as a regional arm of SDSU in the western part of the state. The SDSU WRRE is home to SDSU faculty and staff with expertise in agriculture and natural resources. Our faculty, housed in the Animal Science, Agronomy, and Natural Resources Management departments of SDSU, are happy to help serve area producers, communities, youth, and consumers.

The western part of South Dakota is home to a variety of cultures, landscapes, and people. Those of us living in western South Dakota truly appreciate an area known for its traditional heritage and changing seasons! The staff at the SDSU WRRE understand this part of South Dakota and the challenges faced by area communities, youth, and farm and ranch producers. Faculty at the SDSU WRRE can answer questions from gardening to grazing.  Our staff and faculty also offer a variety of programs year-round for youth and adults alike. Some of these programs take place at the SDSU WRRE facility, but many are carried out across the western part of the state – reaching folks from Buffalo to Burke!  Please check out the SDSU West River Research & Extension Facebook page for program announcements and updates.

South Dakota State University is committed to statewide service and outreach. The SDSU WRRE serves as an important part of that commitment in western South Dakota. We at the SDSU West River Research & Extension look forward to serving you and your community – please come see us in Rapid City to learn more about the programs and expertise we have to offer!
