The Department of Sociology and Rural Studies offers a sociology major and four minors: Criminal Justice, Social and Human Services, Youth and Community Work, and Sociology. In addition, the Human Services courses can be transferred to USD for those students interested in earning a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work.
Students majoring in Sociology can choose from a wide variety of occupations in human resource management, human services, data analysis, criminal justice, etc. Our past graduates have found rewarding careers in the private, government and nonprofit sectors. Many students who participate in the internship program are often offered the jobs described on the Internship page.
