#MeetSDStateNursing—Bailee Storm

Bailee Storm

Meet Bailee Storm, a student at the Rapid City site, originally from Meadow.

What motivated you to choose a career in nursing?

I have always known I wanted to do something in healthcare. I love the variety and endless opportunities that come with a nursing degree. Every day is challenging, interesting, and full of learning opportunities. Every day you will touch a life or another life will touch yours.

Why did you choose SDSU to pursue your nursing degree?

South Dakota State University is an amazing college and has a great reputation. There are a lot of exceptional nurses that graduated from SDSU. It was an added bonus for me that I could attend the Rapid City site much closer to home.

What clinical experiences have you enjoyed the most?

My favorite clinical experience so far would probably have to be in the ICU.

Is there a particular field of nursing you are planning to pursue?

I find myself to be most interested in intensive care or emergency care, but there is room for a change of mind yet!

What is your big dream?

At some point down the road, I plan to return to the ranch and work in our rural hospital close to home. Best of both worlds!

What advice would you share with a future nursing student?

It gets easier, you just have to stick it out. Figure out what works for you studying-wise and continue to do that throughout the program, even if others do it different. Also, make time for yourself, your friends and your family. Nursing school isn’t your whole life, don’t burn yourself out!
