SRF has an immediate opening for a creative, energetic and collaborative individual to join our communications team in our Plymouth headquarters. SRF’s communications team works with company leaders across our diverse service areas in a fast-paced environment with quickly changing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate new business pursuits, including writing, editing, and development of proposals and qualifications for a variety of services and business sectors.
  • Assist marketing team, technical staff, and leadership to create thoughtful, high-impact, and engaging proposal and promotional materials that highlight SRF’s depth of experience, expertise, and creativity.
  • Create compelling messages that convey the company’s strengths as differentiators.
  • Maintain internal systems for information management related to people and projects (resumes and project sheets), pursuits, and promotional activity.
  • Contribute to both internal and external communications campaigns.
  • Monitor websites for new business opportunities.
  • Responsible for updating and creating marketing collateral materials.

Capabilities

  • Experience developing responses to requests for proposals/qualifications (RFP/Qs) is desired
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with exceptional prioritization skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign, or other desktop publishing programs is desired. Experience with social media is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively within a group, as well as independently, and enjoy working with different personality styles and management levels. Will work with staff in person and across geographies.
  • Thrive in a deadline-driven environment.

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or an equivalent level of experience.
  • 0-3 years of experience working in architecture/engineering/construction or other professional services industry is preferred. Internships may qualify as experience.

Our interns work in cooperation with producers, anchors, reporters, web producers and photographers to develop news content that is both timely and relevant to our television and digital audiences. We are looking for someone who will contribute original story ideas to the daily planning meetings. You also need to be a strong writer, pay attention to detail, have good people skills and knowledge of current events.

This position requires you to work a flexible schedule to meet breaking news needs. You need to be able to do well in stressful situations and have an understanding of our local community.

Summer Internship Program:

These are amazing positions for students, as they are not only part of the Midco Team, but the internship also includes workshops on Social Media do’s and don’ts, LinkedIn recommendations, mentors, meetings with our Executive Team and presentations to our Executives at the end of their internship. Great opportunities for growth. All 2020 Summer Intern positions are located in Sioux Falls this year. These are paid internships. In certain situations, paid housing may be available.

Fall Internship Positions:

These positions are different than our Summer program, as they are held during the school year. They are PAID positions and focus on our Midco Sports Network division. The positions are ideal for Broadcast / Communication majors to learn about all areas of production for our Midco Sports Network. Hours will vary based on the sporting event schedule, but are considered part-time jobs.

Argus Leader (a part of USA TODAY NETWORK) Summer 2020 Newsroom Internship

The Argus Leader, a member of the USA TODAY NETWORK and South Dakota’s leading print and online news source, is seeking top notch talent for our multi-media reporter internship. This internship is a full-time opportunity for Summer 2020.

In this role, you will:

  • Report and write about general assignment topics.
  • Produce photos and videos about general news topics.
  • Participate in the Argus Leader’s curation team efforts, identifying social media trends and bringing local context to the discussion.
  • Work this internship for at least 10 weeks mid-May through early August 2020.

Here's what you need:

  • Candidates must be juniors, seniors or graduate journalism students attending a four-year college or university
  • Prior experience working for a college publication is required

Economic Development Assistant

Economic Development Assistant
Temporary - May to August 2020
$12.50 per hour

Reports to: Board of Directors

Short Description: Position is responsible for maintaining the daily activities of the Day County Economic Development office in a professional manner while the executive director is on temporary leave.

Duties:

  • Maintain the Day County Economic Development Office
    • Hold regular office hours from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
    • Attend to phone calls, emails, and visitors, and pick up mail at Todd Garry’s office.
    • Notify board members of any issues that need to be addressed.
    • Coordinate Webster Area Development Corporation board meetings on the third Wednesday of each month from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Business Center; send calendar invite and email reminder, gather RSVPs, prepare agenda and reports, prepare coffee and snack, and take minutes.
    • Maintain marketing campaigns on social media and website promotions
    • Maintain Day County Jobs initiative
      • Complete regular updates of DayCountyJobs.com, and social media outreach and other promotions.
      • Maintain job tracking spreadsheets and monitor trends.
  • Coordinate special projects:
    • Coordinate outreach efforts during summer alumni and visitor events around Day County
    • Other projects as designed with successful hire
  • Maintain the Business Center
    • Coordinate the conference room reservation calendar.
    • Monitor the conference room, restroom and lobby to assure cleanliness and adequate supplies (cups, napkins, coffee, tissues, soap, toilet paper, ice melt, etc.). Take out trash as needed.
    • Monitor a positive street appearance for the building and property. Remove weeds, trash, etc. as needed.
  • Support area boards
    • Accept grant proposals on behalf of Day County Community Foundation and direct to the board president.
    • Accept business loan applications on behalf of Day County Champion Community and direct to the board president.

South Dakota Art Museum Internships

Summer Internship Program:
Part time: 15 weeks, 20 hours per week (schedule & duration negotiable)
Compensation: Paid & potentially unpaid positions are available

AVAILABLE INTERNSHIPS - SUMMER 2020: (May 11 - August 21, 2020)

Collections/Registrar (one part-time position available)

The Intern will work with the Coordinator-Curator of Collections on cataloging and researching recent acquisitions. This will include detailed condition reports, preventive preservation, provenance research, registration of objects, data entry and archiving of documentation. During the internship, the intern will learn and practice proper methods for handling various works of art in addition to gaining experience with standards and best practices for maintaining collection related records.

Attention to details, good handling skills, communication, ability to lift over 40 lbs. are essential. This is a project-based internship, ideal for a student wanting to gain hands-on, behind-the-scene experience in the museum field.

Exhibits (one part-time position available)

This intern will assist the Coordinator of Exhibitions with the research, development, planning, coordination, curation, designing and installation of events, activities/programming, exhibitions, text/label copy and/or marketing materials for a series of art exhibitions. An interest in museum exhibition production, related programming and installation is a must. Interns will gain a general understanding of the curation, organization, coordination, preparation, designing and installation of museum exhibitions and related programming, have an opportunity to assist with activities already planned and initiate the planning of new activities in consultation with museum staff. Basic graphic design experience and an interest in and willingness to format various types of documents like object labels, text panels, activity guides and gallery brochures is a bonus.

Marketing (one part-time position available)

Intern will work with the Coordinator of Marketing and Membership and will assist in developing and implement current marketing plans, including:

  • Assist in the promotion and marketing of exhibitions through advertising, press, social media, website, e-mail and direct mail
  • Assist in the planning, promotion, marketing and implementation of Museum events, workshops and Museum Store promotions
  • Assist in analyzing and expanding our Membership and Donor programs
  • Assist in expanding our e-mail marketing capabilities
  • Other duties could include staffing the information desk and welcoming visitors, member/visitor services, school tours, plan and staff events and classes
  • Help maintain the Museum website and social media sites

Graphic Design (one part-time positions available)

Intern will work with the Coordinator of Marketing and Membership and will assist in the design and development of visual media for marketing and promotion efforts.

  • Design marketing materials for exhibitions, including postcards, posters, and handouts
  • Design exhibit catalogs
  • Create museum promotional materials, including brochures, mailers, handouts, and ads
  • Help maintain the Museum website
  • Maintain consistency of the Museum brand throughout all promotional materials
  • Other duties could include staffing the information desk and welcoming visitors, member/visitor services, school tours, plan and staff events and classes
  • Knowledge and experience in Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator a must. Photography experience a plus.
