What do I need to do in order to complete step one?

Students who want to complete step one will need to be able to login to MyState, accept the housing contract, and pay the $75 confirmation fee.

What is a Room Selection Period?
Current students will be RANDOMLY assigned a time to select their housing for the 2019-2020 academic year based on when they submit their housing confirmation.

During step two of the preferred housing arrangement, students will be able to:
  • Request special accommodations
  • Indicate additional interests
  • Indicate interest in a Living Learning Community
  • Apply for up to two Living Learning Communities
  • Create a profile for roommate search (about me information, living environment preferences)
  • Search for, request, and confirm roommates prior to step three (online room selection)

Roommates

Building a profile page:

Beginning January 29, 2019, students will be able to complete an online profile in order to help identify potential roommate matches. This will include answering questions about sleep and study habits and other common roommate concerns.

Do I have to choose a roommate?

No, not necessarily.  If you would like to live in a single room, you do not need to go through the roommate process within step two.  However, if you want to live in a double or suite, you will be assigned by Housing & Residential Life based on when you provided your preferred housing arrangement.

Roommate limit:
You can send up to eight roommate requests. To fill a double room you need to confirm at least one roommate. To fill a four person suite, you need to confirm at least three roommates (same for 6 and 8 person suites).

Congratulations you are now eligible to assign yourselves to a room during the room selection period.

Why isn't my friend showing up in my roommate search?
  • It is possible that your friend has not yet completed this section (step two) of the housing application.
  • In order to show up, your friend needs to select being included in roommate search results.
  • Only roommates who are eligible to live in the same spaces will show up in search results (a first year student will not show up in a second year student's search results, etc.).
My roommate and I have different Online Room Selection times.  What happens?
The person with the earliest Online Room Selection period will be able to assign both students to a double room during their assigned time frame.

Likewise, the person with the earliest Online Room Selection period will be able to assign all confirmed roommates to a 4, 6 or 8 person suite during their assigned time frame.

Why can't I access step three?
You must have been assigned an online room selection time slot in order to access step three. When your room selection period arrives, assign yourself to a room.

What happens if I receive a server message?
Like most online systems, the software has user capacity limits for how many people can access it at any given moment.  As soon as one student logs off or leaves the site, another student will be able to access the portal. If you receive a "server is busy" message, please return in a few minutes.
