Population Health Evaluation Center (PHEC)

The Population Health Evaluation Center (PHEC) is a service center within the College of Nursing at South Dakota State University. Specializing in providing program evaluation and assessment services for the University and various organizations within South Dakota and the Upper Midwest, we partner with clients to strengthen the services they provide in their communities in the areas of public health, well-being and education.

We aim to offer a full range of evaluation services to our clients, starting with developing a plan to meet an organization's unique needs. Our job is to gather and interpret data to help organizations understand the impact of their work, and use the data to target improvements and new opportunities for our clients to improve quality of services and expand their reach to target populations. Many of our projects focus on rural areas, in an effort to improve the health and quality of life in Midwestern communities.

Our multi-disciplinary team is committed to:

  • Providing the highest quality of services
  • Understanding the context and communities in which we work
  • Collaborating with our partners to build evaluation capacity
  • Producing meaningful, usable information tailored to your program/organization
  • Encouraging the use of evaluation findings for continuous program improvement
  • Accessing experts within the University to enhance evaluation

The Population Health Evaluation Center provides evaluation and assessment services for a variety of programs in the state. Below are a few examples of evaluation pieces for some of our past and current partners:
