SDSU is located an hour away from the USD Medical School in Sioux Falls, and is roughly 4 hours away from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. The College of Engineering currently offers a minor in Biomedical Engineering.
SDSU and Avera Health have entered into a partnership to support medical research, and Avera is donating $15 million to the construction of the Avera Health & Science Complex which will house the Department of Pharmacy and the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. There is already an on-going partnership with regard to nursing, medical education, and behavioral genetics.
Thus there are opportunities to develop radiation therapy, radiopharmacy, health physics, and applications for nuclear medicine.
