Resource Center Mission Statement

The mission of the South Dakota State University Resource Center is to provide community and campus resources to both allies and members of underrepresented communities. Students, faculty, and staff at our university, as well as residents of the Brookings community, are welcome to these resources. We have materials on many topics, including LGBTQIA+ materials, African, Latinx, and Native American resources, informational materials on disabilities, and more!

Please stop by Monday-Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to check out some of these resources at the front desk.

South Dakota State University has been named as theBest College for LGBTQ+ Students in South Dakotafor 2022 by BestColleges in association with Campus Pride! 

According to BestColleges, many LGBTQ+ students are seeking college opportunities that are affordable, in their home state, or close to home and family. In order to help these students seek out quality higher education that meets their needs, is inclusive and safe, and provides a welcoming environment for students of various gender and sexual identities, BestColleges partners with the organization, Campus Pride, to identify the top colleges and universities nationwide and in each state that establish high standards for inclusive, quality education. It is an honor for SDSU to be recognized on this list as an institution that supports students and provides opportunities for a welcoming and premiere educational experience.
