SDSU Accessibility Resources 

Accessibility parking stalls are provided in designated areas for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Anyone utilizing an accessible parking stall must display a state-issued disability placard/license plate and have at least a valid SDSU Economy Commuter permit associated with their vehicle, or a current visitor permit/hangtag.

A state issued accessibility placard is still required in situations regarding short-term or temporary mobility disability or injury. Individuals will not be granted special parking accommodations without a valid state issued accessibility placard. Each state is different on how to obtain a state-issued disability placard so please consult with your physician for more information. Public Event Accessibility Resource Guide

Accommodation statement template as found in University Policy 5:14 for advertisements for non-instructional University events: "Individuals with disabilities who would like to attend this event, please contact Sarah Lesnar at or call at 605-688-5748 regarding any special accommodation needs. It is requested that individuals requiring auxiliary aids such as sign language interpreters and alternative format materials notify the event sponsor at least seven (7) working days in advance."

Housing and Residential Life strives to accommodate all student needs in collaboration with the Office of Disability Services. Several residence halls have ADA accessible rooms, including Jackrabbit Village, Caldwell Hall, and Meadows.

If you are a student in University Housing with a disability and wish to pursue permission to bring an emotional support animal into university housing, please begin this process by contacting Nancy Hartenhoff-Crooks with the Office of Disability Services at or 605-688-4504.

Examples: area needing snow removal or salt, physical barrier, automatic door opener not functioning, missing or unclear signage, etc.

Option 1: Complete the “Report a Concern for Non-Emergencies” Form

  • It may be more helpful to contact Facilities & Services directly in situations such as an automatic door opener not functioning, a locked door preventing access, physical barriers blocking an entrance, snow covered area, etc.; however, the other options provided will also result in the concern being addressed.

Employee Request: SDSU is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to ensure that employees and applicants for employment with qualifying disabilities are afforded seamless access to employment opportunities. The Office of Human Resources works with employees and applicants for employment to organize reasonable accommodations. The office also partners with employees and departments in the interactive process of setting up accommodations.

Student Request: Students with disabilities who would like to receive classroom and other accommodations should contact the Office of Disability Services. The Office of Disability Services is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to students with disabilities so they can succeed in their education and university experience. The office works collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff to help create accessible learning environments and create an inclusive university experience for students to engage in all that SDSU has to offer.

Visitor Request: The ADA Coordinator collaborates with other University departments to ensure access for guests and visitors with disabilities at all programs, activities, events, and services. Guests or visitors who are in need of accommodation to participate in a program, activity, event, or service should first contact the event sponsor, organization, or department as early as possible in advance of the event to allow enough time to arrange the accommodations requested.

Classroom Technology Services provides the university with the necessary technology for classroom presentations, conference rooms and videoconferencing needs.

Facilities & Services is here to serve the University community by maintaining the existing campus and supporting the expansion and growth of campus through project management and support.

Instructional Design Services serves the SDSU community and fulfills many roles with the goal to support the instructional, research, institutional, and service missions of the University.
